The Beer and Baccy Ceilidh / Ceili Band
The Beer and Baccy Ceilidh / Ceili Band is a long-established band playing mainly celtic music (Irish and Scottish)but can vary its style in response to the audience [Rock, Country, Modern, Folk, Jazz, Blues when appropriate etc]. The usual lineup has 12-string guitar/accordian, banjo, fiddle, mandolin/bazooki, flute/whistle, bass and percussion (a number also sing - and occasionally try to harmonise) but larger or smaller groups can be catered for according to the venue/occasion. (Please visit the "Testimonials page".)
The band is equally at home performing in concert, simply entertaining, corporate team building or providing background music appropriate for any given occasion.
It is mainly called upon to provide ceilidh-type evenings and has its own caller to tell you how to do the dances as well as bringing along its own amplification. In between the dances the band will entertain you with songs and tunes mixed with a touch of humour. If you have any special requests the band will try to accomodate them.
As well as the usual "hatches, matches and despatches", i.e. christenings, weddings and funerals, the band has also played for a variety of other special occasions:
- Corporate functions, for example; BBC,IBM, Glaxco Welcome, UK Paper, Oxford University's Scottish Society, Royal College of Music, YHA
- 5 star hotels eg Park Lane's Grosvenor House Hotel etc
- Financial institutions eg Bank of England, Bank of Scotland etc

Especially suited to those occasions where there is a need to mix disparate(?) people in a random, natural but memorable manner!
